Hi Members,
Another year has flown by and Christmas has approached at light speed. The maintenance team has managed to get through green and tee renovations mostly unscathed due to some better weather during the days. Unfortunately renovations are a necessary evil that we need to undertake annually to ensure the course is at it’s peak throughout the year. The greens should be back to a great standard before Christmas with the right conditions over the next few weeks. Player numbers will be down considerably over the coming weeks so get out and enjoy the course before the festive break.
All of our honourboard events have wrapped up for the 2010 season and a big congratulations to all of our winners. The presentation evening will be held on Friday night the 3rd December with all member’s and guests welcome to attend. Bookings can be made with Neale in the Club bar, 3 course A-La-Carte menu, complimentary drink on arrival and entertainment only $35 members and $45 for guests. Whilst the course is recovering from renovations there will be no Monthly medal event for December, this was held last weekend. The Thursday Oakley competition was also wrapped up in November and next years weekly events will start again on the first Thursday in January.
Our 2011 Junior Pennants season begin’s next weekend and will continue through till February 2011. Any interested juniors who would like to play please contact me in the golf shop ASAP. Good luck to the boys who are out to go one better this time round.
Finally, I wish all member’s and their families a safe and Merry Christmas and hope 2011 brings you the spoils. Enjoy the festive season!!!
Good golfing and hope to see you on the green!
Regards,
Dion Mullen

A very big congratulations to David Hacker who managed to score a HOLE IN ONE during last Wednesday’s Sporters competition. The Ice-cream king was successful on the 12th Hole with an easy 8 iron (so he says!!). Not such a HACKER anymore, well done Dave!!

This months rule is not so much an on course rule but a Match Committee official rule of golf.
TIME OF STARTING
As a general rule all players of a group should be checked in and ready to tee off 10 minutes prior to allotted tee time. With 7 minute tee intervals on our time sheets, groups may be called to the tee earlier if a clear tee permits.
The official rule states- If players A,B,C & D starting time is 9am and A,B & C were present and had played their tee shots before player D arrived at 9.02am then the following rulings can apply.
- Player D is disqualified for failure to start at the established tee time.
- Or – Under the 5 minute period, Player D incurs a penalty of 2 strokes, rather than disqualification.
Please note that the following rule will be adhered to moving forward for repeat offenders or those players that do not call or notify the golf shop.

What a month of shocking weather AGAIN with almost 2 weeks of rain!!! I can’t congratulate the maintenance team enough on their efforts in getting the course back to the usual fantastic standard. After working on bunkers for 4 days a freak afternoon storm destroyed everything including many trees on course however the boys just kept plugging away. Thank you to NEARLY everyone who obeyed the carts on paths signs and rules during the long wet spell. Unfortunately a certain member (RW) got a little wetter than everyone else, testing the water depth in the lake on hole7. Yes, there is a reason we put carts on paths!! Keep an eye out for the sand divot trailer and try and assist wherever possible to keep our course beautiful.
Once again a reminder that tee time availability during November will be minimal and bookings are essential. Attached in this month’s newsletter, on the blog, facebook and also noticeboards will be a calendar of events with upcoming group bookings. Please make note of days there is no availability, wherever possible we have secured tee times for Full members at The Colonial. Again I cannot stress how important booking and cancelling tee times will be. I ask for all member’s patience and understanding during this extremely busy period, however these groups are necessary so the club can continue operating and improving our course and facilities.
Thank you to all member’s that have renewed early for the 2010/11 membership year. The 2011 fixtures book is available to be picked up from the golf shop now along with new membership cards. Reminder that the members presentation evening will be held on Friday 3rd December in conjunction with the Friday night dining. The theme this year is again ROCK & ROLL night after last year’s huge success, so book in early to reserve your table. The evening is a trophy presentation night for all honor board winners throughout the year, along with a fantastic night of trivia and dancing. Bookings can be made with Neale in the Club bar, 3 course A-La-Carte menu, complimentary drink on arrival and entertainment only $35 members and $45 for guests.
Good golfing and hope to see you on the green!

Dion Mullen
