June was not the wet month that we have come to expect from previous years. This has meant that we can keep the motorised carts on the fairways for a lot longer, much to the delight of members & guests. The use of ropes on the shaded fairways to keep the carts on paths is working well with no muddy or bare patches evident due to no traffic. These areas are becoming stronger each year with terrific growth resulting in the new growing season.
A friendly reminder that all ropes & cart directional arrows are there only for the benefit of the golfer. Without theses guides you would be playing of bare ground all year round. Please follow them accordingly & use a little bit of golf etiquette. Unfortunately the 14th men’s tee is being used as a thoroughfare instead of the cart path & the resulting thin muddy track is an eye sore.
A busy month on the hand tools for the maintenance team with the majority of the mowers not required as much during the month.
All creeks, drains, valve boxes & gully pits were all brush cut along with all bunkers being edged & trimmed.
Once again it’s that time of year when we prune & mulch trees on a daily basis, this year we will be disposing of all our mulch between the 14th green & 15th tee area.
The 5th tee surround has a new look with new concrete kerbing. With the edition of new turf this area is far more aesthetically pleasing.
No frosts as yet & no rain to speak of, perhaps the real winter won’t arrive till July.
See you on course,
Glenn Beauclerc – your friendly course superintendent

Just like to send out a very happy birthday wish to Paul “Larry” Lynch who celebrated his 70th birthday last week. Paul is one of our founding member’s who is always around the club and helps out with several competitions etc throughout the year. Heard he threw a pretty good shindig for it also, for those of you who remember the evening (Carravan).
