Hi Members,
Welcome Spring!!! Bring on the warm weather and lush fairways. After a very busy month of corporate and tour groups September is a much better month for access. With all of our major honour board events now complete member’s can enjoy some more relaxed golf for the remainder of the year. Keep up that consistent scoring on Saturday’s with only 3 months left to register points in the Order of Merit.
Club Championships wrapped up last weekend and a huge thank you to all who competed. With very large fields this year and fading afternoon light we managed to get everyone around without problems. Congratulations to the following people who are our Club Champions for 2010 – Mens A grade – Grant Lewis Mens B grade – Ross Blunden Mens C grade – Ray Weeks Ladies – Zoie Cooper
Next year we will be playing the championships in earlier tee times to ensure less hold ups and everyone playing in similar conditions.
Last chance to get your free vouchers or cart pass by renewing before the end of September. There will be no extensions or credit on memberships that are not financial by 30th September so please do not ask the golf shop team. Finally, all our newsletter information is now featured on the blog and also facebook.
Good golfing and hope to see you on the green!
Regards,
Dion Mullen
Director of Golf and Membership

gbeauclerc@playmoregolf.com.auGolf Course Maintenance
Well the last month of winter really didn’t provide much of the cold snap that we were all expecting. To be honest I don’t really think we had a real winter; it certainly was the driest one we’ve had for several years & still no frosts recorded. Officially 83mm of rain was collected of which 68mm fell over two days. We continued during the month with our construction projects with the 18th tee receiving a new sleeper wall & garden. Still the best finishing hole on any golf course the new look tee area only enhances this fantastic hole.
With spring just around the corner we have started the mechanical practises to encourage new growth coming into spring. All Greens & Tees have been aerated with solid tynes (so as not to disrupt the golfers) & fertilised with liquid fert’s. All fairwayswere also given a liquid feed which resulted in a terrific definition between them & the rough(see attached pictures).
On the greens:
Ø Two applications of liquid fert
Ø One application of preventative insecticide (black beetle larvae)
Ø One application of miticide (couch mite)
Ø One application of fungicide
Fairway renovations this year will occur from the 13thof September through to the 24th.
This year we will be aerating with hollow tynes, applying gypsum to break up the clay particles in the soil &finally fertiliser with a 50% upfront 50%slow release granular fertiliser.
Watch them jump out of the ground!
See you on course.
Glenn Beauclerc
Your Friendly Course Superintendent.

Q Your ball is off the green, but close enough that you want to putt; however, directly in your putting line – between your ball and the green – is a sprinkler head. Do you get to move your ball so that you don't have to putt over the sprinkler head?
A In order to take relief because of interference with the line of your putt, your ball must be on the green. In our example, however, the ball is off the green. Therefore, you cannot move the ball. Your options are to go ahead and putt across the sprinkler head, or to chip the ball over the obstruction and onto the green.
